一艘海船，在其营运的航行过程中可能会遇到各种各样的海难事故，诸如船舶航行过程中难免会遇到大风浪，大风浪对船舶航行安全构成了潜在的危害。由于在大风浪中准备不够充分、避让不恰当及操作不谨慎导致船毁人亡的海难事故屡见不鲜，但是大风浪也不是不可战胜的。因大风浪有其自身的客观规律性，在确保船舶具有足够的适航性的同时也需运用我们所学的专业知识及能力，将船舶本身的性能与当时航行的外界风浪环境适宜地有效地协调起来，再针对大风浪对船体作用情况的分析进行妥善地处理即可达到安全操船的目的。
